The creaky top step,
The bleached white splotch
On my favorite blue wall,
Screeching tires and foggy mornings.
Home.
Piano keys fumbling around my fingers,
Sighs of summer trickle through the air,
The rhythm pulsing within tapping fingers,
Warm blankets and heavy eyes.
Home.
Life spilling out of unnoticed words,
Sitting in open-too-wide, unnoticed books.
Pavement lacking fresh, white paint,
Once still swings and endless starry nights.
Home.
Frayed shoelaces and dusty camera lenses,
Fireflies and cloudless, black skies.
Sun rays lapping against grass blades,
Sheet music humming a silent melody.
Home.

Falling Away From Your Past
I saw you today,
But you're not as I remember.
Your eyes no longer sparkle,
You've changed since last September.
You were so full of life,
Yet now you are so cold.
Your personality has tarnished,
When you once had a heart of gold.
You fell out of my life,
Just like leaves in the fall.
We were so very close,
Now you're not here at all.
You saw me today,
I'm the same as you remember.
My eyes still sparkle,
I've not changed since last September.
I remember you,
I'm only starting to forget,
The words you've said,
The way your smile lit up the night,
Inside us was where the ocean and sky had met,
The melody and the lyrics were read,
Simple time of our lives slipped away out of sight,
You were alone, and you still are,
I've loved you enough to free you,
To take your misery to create my own,
But you aren't here anymore.
Above the ocean is your star,
In your absence, it soothes,
It calls to you that this is your home,
Your wishes will be forgiven by the ocean's roars.
And this flowing water has not seen you,
For your pressure has pushed you away from here,
The creaky top step,
The bleached white splotch
On my favorite blue wall,
Screeching tires and foggy mornings.
Home.
